Earlier this month, one of the leaders of the “black flag” protests against Prime Minister Netanyahu, Amir Haskel, was filmed in two separate instances directing a racially charged rant at Israeli police officers of Ethiopian descent.
The footage revealed Haskel singling out the officers and shouting at them: “I brought your parents here from Ethiopia, aren’t you ashamed of yourself!?”
In response, we helped Israeli soccer stars of Ethiopian descent to spread their message against Haskel’s display of racism by publicizing photos on our social media pages of them holding signs reading: “We immigrated to Israel by the merit of our ancestors, not by the merit of Amir Haskel.”
The photos went viral and reached more than 630,000 people on Facebook alone. Read more here.
