Following a Knesset committee initiated by Im Tirtzu together with MK Shlomo Karhi, the Prime Minister’s Office announced that it was freezing cooperation with the Wexner Foundation amid allegations of a left-wing bias.
We also submitted a legal petition arguing that the gifts received by the program’s participants were in violation of Israel’s Gift Law.
The US-based Wexner Foundation runs a training program for top Israeli civil servants. However, the program maintains complete autonomy from the government and has been accused of indoctrinating participants with a left-wing agenda.
The Wexner Foundation has recently come under fire after it was revealed that it paid $2.3 million to former Labor party Prime Minister Ehud Barak to conduct two “studies” that were never published.
A generously sponsored program aimed at educating government employees is a wonderful initiative. But it is important that such a program has oversight and not be a means to promote a biased agenda.
