After word reached us that the government planned on providing COVID-19 aid to NGOs whose raison d’être is to perpetuate Israel’s illegal migrant worker issue, we launched a successful pressure campaign resulting in the nixing of aid to such organizations.
Israel has long been searching for a solution for the tens of thousands of illegal migrant workers who reside in Israel, but has faced sharp pushback from political NGOs that are largely funded by the New Israel Fund and European governments.
Now, more COVID-19 aid can go to Holocaust survivors and families in need, and not to political NGOs working against the interests of the country.
