The newly appointed deputy mayor of Haifa and unabashed supporter of terrorism, Raja Zaatry, announced his resignation today following immense public pressure initiated by Im Tirtzu.
Our efforts included on-the-ground advocacy led by our activists in Haifa, social media posts that reached hundreds of thousands of people, and the facilitation of over 30,000 emails that were sent protesting Zaatry’s appointment.
Zaatry is a member of the radical Communist Party of Israel who has defended Hezbollah and compared Zionism to Nazism and the IDF to the Islamic State. He actively harms the coexistence between Jews and Arabs, and the people of Haifa deserve better. We are proud to have brought about his resignation.
The Communist Party of Israel, however, was less pleased about our efforts: “The protests against Zaatry’s appointment began at the initiative of the fascist group Im Tirtzu.”
Coming from them, we’ll take that as a compliment.
