Last week we organized a large convoy in solidarity with Aryeh Schiff, a 70-year-old resident of the southern city of Arad who is facing charges for killing a Bedouin man who broke into his property and tried to steal his car.
Aryeh Schiff, a model citizen and former volunteer police officer, was awoken in the middle of the night by noise outside his home and discovered several masked thieves breaking into his car.
Residents of the Negev and Arad in particular have been plagued by burglaries and other crimes perpetrated by members of the surrounding Bedouin communities. Just this week, 93,000 bullets were stolen from the Tze’elim army base in the Negev, one of the largest ammunition thefts in IDF history.
