Im Tirtzu is a moderate centrist extra-parliamentary movement that engages in on-campus Zionist advocacy, in an effort to strengthen the values of Zionism in Israel, with the aim of securing the future of the Jewish people and the State of Israel and advancing Israeli society in its struggle to overcome the challenges it is currently facing.

We, at Im Tirtzu, believe that a robust national will and a belief in the just cause of the Zionist enterprise are the most important assets of the Jewish people and the State of Israel, assets that have been gradually eroded in recent years. Therefore, Im Tirtzu has been concentrating its efforts on the level of awareness and is promoting a resolute values-oriented campaign of Zionist advocacy on Israeli university campuses in particular, and within Israeli society, in general.

We believe the younger generation, and especially the
university student population, holds the key to the future of the Jewish people and the State of Israel and that it is the duty and responsibility of this population to lead Israeli society.

Regrettably, in recent years, anti-Zionist trends have been proliferating in Israeli universities, which have gradually displaced , marginalized and excluded the Zionist discourse, preventing Zionists from making their voices heard. For the past two years, Im Tirtzu has been the only entity that has provided a response to the spread of post-Zionist and anti-Zionist currents among the faculty and student body in Israeli universities

This state of affairs is not unique to the universities. The Israeli public and media discourse in the realms of politics and culture has for a long time been plagued by a heavy sense of loss of both purpose and values. In our opinion, the Israeli public discourse as it has been conducted in recent years has ceased to serve the aims of Zionism and no longer enables our society to deal appropriately with the threats with which we are confronted.

The Im Tirtzu movement has been established in order to consolidate a new ideological axis focusing on the solidarity and mutual responsibility of the Jewish public, on formulating an overall Zionist strategy for coping with the challenges that face us and maintaining the Jewish-democratic character of the State.

Im Tirtzu has been working to ensure that the voices of the Zionists may once again be heard and become the dominant tone in the debate on the important issues that impact the future of Israeli society.

We have therefore been active in the following fields:

Strengthening the values of Zionism and Judaism within Israeli society - We regard education towards Zionist Jewish values as the most important task of our generation. We aspire to instill in all members of the nation the values of love for the Jewish people, the homeland, and the State, alongside the values of democracy, tolerance and peace.

As the current standard-bearers and followers of Zionism, the national movement of the Jewish people, we hold our right to an independent sovereign State in the Land of Israel with a unified Jerusalem as its capital as a natural, inherent right that cannot be contested.

On-Campus Zionist Advocacy - In recent years Israeli universities have become incubators of anti-Zionist ideologies both among faculty members and among various student organizations. Im Tirtzu has been working towards the strengthening of the Zionist identity of Israeli students and has been responding to current trends that challenge Israel's right to continue to exist as a Jewish State.

In this respect, we have been examining current research trends in various departments, pointing out and bringing to the awareness of the student body and the public at large the anti-Zionist bias that has dominated the curricula of various courses and university departments. In addition, we conduct lectures, discussion panels, tours and video-screenings of relevant films. We distribute advocacy materials, protest against incitement, and act as the voice of the silent Zionist majority.

Mutual Responsibility and Solidarity - Im Tirtzu has been working towards strengthening the sense of solidarity and mutual responsibility among the various sectors of Israeli society. In 2007, thousands of students have volunteered to participate in various projects in the frame of Im Tirtzu: volunteering to help new Olim, helping farmers and residents of the Gaza periphery region, assisting survivors of the Holocaust, organizing aid for soldiers, etc.

Im Tirtzu believes in the capacity of every person to influence his environment. We believe that a return to Zionism and an ethical Zionist renewal is the solution to the problems and crises Israeli society is currently facing. Once we regain our belief in the validity and justice of the Zionist cause and in our ability to make a difference in steering our reality we shall be able to deal successfully with the challenges that confront us.

In the words of Herzl:

"If you will it is no dream … and if you do not will then everything I have told you is only a dream and will continue to remain a dream". If we only dare to do so, we can transform the dream that is the State of Israel into a more just, more modern, more democratic and more Jewish place.
